The JV Marauders (1-2, 0-0) routed their crosstown rivals 55-6. Cash Taylor led the charge on both sides of the ball, galloping for 258 rushing yards and 3 TD on 12 carries (21.5/att), and also leading the team with 5 tackles, including a team high 2 tackles for loss. Taylor took Jesuit’s first play from scrimmage over right tackle for 37 yards, and Jesuit never looked back.
Offensively, the Marauders exploded for 550 rushing yards behind a physical offensive line. Tackle Antonio Scanzano was the battering ram leading Jesuit backs downfield. Center Nick Swanson and mates Peyton McDonald, Tucker Johnstone, and James Econome dominated CB’s defensive front. Ace Saca rambled for 131 yards and 2 TD, reaching paydirt from 35 and 2 yards. Noah Clay added 91 yards rushing and a TD on 9 carries. QB Chris Thorn rushed for 65 yards on 6 carries, and also completed two passes on four attempts for 46 yards.
Thorn opened the scoring on Jesuit’s opening possession, covering 34 yards on a keeper for the 7-0 lead. After a Brothers three-and-out, Jesuit covered 70 yards in two plays. Clay’s bruising 48 yard run preceded Thorn’s 22 yard scoring run over the right side. Taylor’s scoring burst from 31 yards out improved the margin to 21-0 at the intermission.
Jesuit buried the Falcons in the third quarter with three rushing touchdowns. Ace Saca broke loose from 35 yards, beating a host of Falcons to the pylon. Following a 41 yard hookup from Thorn to Keleki Latu, Clay cashed in from 1 yard out. Taylor’s 52 yard pitchout put the game out of reach. Following a 2 yard scoring plunge from Saca, Taylor went to afterburner with another pitchout, covering 85 yards untouched.
Jesuit’s defense throttled CB’s spread attack, limiting the Falcons to -7 yards rushing and 121 yards of total offense. Linebacker David Hause notched 3 tackles. Matt Bettencourt added 2 tackles. Sebastian Torres recovered a Brothers fumble, and Jesuit held Brothers (1-3) to 1-9 of third down.
Final Score: Jesuit 55, Christian Brothers 6
