Marauders Soccer Celebrate Senior and Beat Franklin 8-0
Wednesday, February 6, 2019
On Wednesday, February 6th, Jesuit welcomed Franklin to their home turf for Jesuit’s final regular season game of the season and for Senior Day. In the 5th minute someone on Jesuit took a dangerous strike at goal that was blocked out to Cole Barrett who took a mash at the ball, taking a deflection off a defender’s back and bouncing in. In the 16th minute, Julian Churchill passed it across to Cole on his right who hesitated with the ball right in front of goal for a minute and then, in his signature way, played it back perfectly to Julian who put it in. In the 21st minute, Christian Honig scored a header off a corner. Now the goals were flowing. A minute later, Elijah Beverley played a simple ball to Jake L’Ecuyer and another goal was tacked on. In all this excitement, only a minute after the last goal, Franklin got a penalty kick in the box and, Frankie Turnbull saved the upcoming shot with a full body on the ball as it went at the low right part of goal. The seniors were really showing out.
Half Jesuit 4, Franklin 0
As the second half began, the second-string lineup was implemented to get some necessary experience, and they did not disappoint. In the 46th minute, Gustavo Levenfeld tossed up a beauty of a corner kick into the heart of the box, and Dono Carrillo put a smashing header into the back of the net. In the 60th minute, Elijah smacked in an ugly, but effective, finish. In the 65th minute, Alex Petty scraped a shot in past the unsuspecting keeper, winning his way out of a quickly oncoming defense. To put the icing on the cake, in the 77th minute, season latecomer Lucas English hit an upward floating right-footed slice into the goal in a bit of style. The game ends 8-0. As Jesuit Soccer comes pretty near to the end of their season, with just playoffs left to go, today was a day to recognize the Class of 2019 seniors, who will be gone soon but forever living in Jesuit soccer history. Jesuit ended the regular season with a strong 19-2-3 record.
