Annual Blood Drive
hosted by Student Council

Event Barry Gym

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. You have a chance to give blood, and every blood donation can help up to three people. We’ve been hosting this annual Blood Drive since 1985!

Join us at the JHS Blood Drive on Wednesday, January 22 from 8:30am -12:45pm. You will receive a free t-shirt and there will be snacks for all participants! Our schoolwide goal is to have 35 donations. Adults on campus are also welcome to sign up! To sign up, click on the link, and return your waiver to the Dean’s Office. Appointments are recommended, and walk-ins will be accommodated if space allows. Priority will be given to student donors, but appointments will be opened up to parents.

All students must have a parent/guardian fill out this signed consent form

You must be 16 years or older, weigh 110 pounds, be in good health, and bring your photo ID. Please eat, and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating. If you are an in-season athlete, please check with your coach prior to signing up, as you will probably not be able to practice on the day that you donate.

To prepare for your donation:

  • If you’re worried about needles, don’t be—most blood donors compare the experience to a mild, split-second pinch! The entire process is very safe and very fast, and you will feel amazing knowing you potentially saved up to three people.
  • If you are an athlete in season, please speak with your coach before signing up.Donors must be at least 16 years old and there is no upper age limit.
  • The minimum weight is 110 pounds and donors must be free of cold or flu symptoms for 72 hours.
  • The entire donation process takes about one hour and the actual blood donation takes about 5-7 minutes.
  • Please bring a photo I.D. with your full legal name.
  • Eat a hearty iron-rich meal before donating.
  • Drink plenty of water prior to donation (two or three 16-ounce bottles of water two hours before donating).

Thank you for being a blood donor and helping to save lives with us!
