Initial Phase of Pedestrian Crosswalk Construction

News

Dear Jesuit faculty, staff, families, and neighbors,

Effective Saturday, August 17, 2024, Jesuit High School Sacramento, in partnership with contracted agencies, will begin the initial phase of the pedestrian crosswalk construction on American River Drive adjacent to the campus between Jacob Lane and Piccadilly Circle.

The construction may intermittently disrupt traffic flow, but steps are being taken to avoid peak commute hours to lessen the impact on families and neighbors. During school days, work will commence at 9:00 a.m. When the sidewalk and median work impacts the street’s right of way, traffic control with barriers, flagmen, and/or a detour will be in place.

Anticipated work dates include but are not limited to:

  • Saturday, August 17

  • Tuesday, August 20

  • Wednesday, August 21

  • Thursday, August 22

  • Saturday, August 24

When fully completed, the project, approved and permitted by the County of Sacramento, will include crosswalk striping on all four sides of the Jacob Lane x American River Drive intersection and a newly constructed lit ADA-compliant crosswalk on the south side of Tennyson Way connecting the east and west sides of American River Drive.

All traveling through the area are asked to drive slowly and follow all traffic safety mitigation. Additionally, pedestrians should proceed with caution on and near the Jesuit campus when around the construction site.

Jesuit looks forward to completing this project, which will provide our entire community with significant pedestrian improvements. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during these necessary works. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns about the project.
