Joint Message from the Principals – Holy Bowl 2024

News

Dear Families:

Sacramento’s family of Catholic high schools is thrilled to welcome our community for the 53rd Holy Bowl this Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Hughes Stadium. This annual event is a fine tradition of good-spirited rivalry and a chance to showcase our athletic accomplishments and enormous school spirit and pride. Students who attended years of grammar school together have an opportunity to catch up and socialize, and this is an opportunity to promote Catholic education to the broader Sacramento community.

The game provides a learning opportunity for our students regarding appropriate dress and behavior. We have high expectations that students will show school pride in their actions and in what they wear. At all institutions, we stress that as students, these young men and women represent the mission and core values of each of our schools and that they model in a very real and public way what it means to be a student in a Catholic high school.

We encourage parents, guardians, and primary educators to discuss appropriate dress and behavior with their students before Holy Bowl. Our schools subscribe to the CIF principles outlined in “Pursuing Victory with Honor.” We ask students to show pride with dignity, taste, and positive cheers. Please review all Info and Safety policies on the website; these include but are not limited to:

  • All students must have their school identification cards with them at the game.
  • There will be no crossover privileges or in-and-out privileges throughout the event.
  • A clear bag policy is in effect. All purses and bags may be subject to search upon entry. Clear bags should not be excessive in size.
  • Pop-up tents are only permitted on the East/Visitor side in limited areas (okay for use in sections 8 and 6, top 5 rows) as long as they do not obstruct the view of fellow guests.
  • Attendees should come prepared for the heat with sun protection. Unopened water bottles are permitted to be carried in, but coolers are not allowed.
  • Indoor stadium concessions will be open. Food trucks will also be on site.

Thank you for supporting this great tradition. For more information about the Holy Bowl, visit www.holybowl.com. We look forward to a fun and exciting evening of football and tradition.
