Art Event helps fund Jesuit
On Thursday, Oct. 24, Jesuit High School Sacramento hosts the Jesuit Art Event, where renowned local artists get to showcase and sell their artwork.
Executive Director of Advancement Ms. Kim Kalmbach explains that while the primary goal of the night is to highlight artists, the event also benefits Jesuit.
“Half of all the proceeds from this art sale go directly to Jesuit High School,” said Ms. Kalmbach. “If [the artists] sell a painting for a thousand dollars, they donate 50% back to the school. It’s a fantastic way to help showcase their art, get it in front of more buyers, but also help benefit the school.”
The Art Event was started over 10 years ago by alumni parent Ms. Sheila Brown. Since then, Ms. Kalmbach has partnered with Ms. Brown in organizing the event.
“She’s really instrumental [and] had all the relationships with these artists ahead of time,” Ms. Kalmbach said. “She brings in all the artwork; she works with the artists.”
The Art Event also offers buyers the opportunity to interact with the artists and learn about the background of the art pieces on display.
“The artists now join us for the Thursday invitation-only VIP event,” said Ms. Brown. “Attendees love meeting [the artists] and finding out about a piece they may purchase: the inspiration, the material, the method.”
The Art Event helps unite old and new Jesuit families, and keeps them coming back to Jesuit year after year.
“[The Jesuit Art Event] actually brings a lot of our alumni and our alumni parents back to campus,” Ms. Kalmbach said. “It’s a great way for alumni parents and alumni to stay connected to the school.”
Over the years, the event has had a positive impact in the community, growing into a showcase that many look forward to.
“It’s definitely an event that everyone has so much love for and they want to not only support the artists, but they really want to support the school too,” Ms. Kalmbach said. “It’s a really fun event; probably one of my favorites each year.”
The Jesuit Art Event takes place from 5 p.m. to 8 in the Brebeuf Hall. Come out to help support local artists and Jesuit High School.
