Cornhole Tournament seeks to bring community together and ignite school spirit
After finding success with previous Spirit Activities, the Jesuit High School Sacramento Student Executive Council has prepared the first-ever Cornhole Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 12-3 p.m.
The Tournament, which is open for students of all grade levels, will be accompanied on campus by The Fry Boys food truck.
Students who plan on participating in the Cornhole Tournament should register using the link found in their student email. To attend the event, students must have a current negative COVID-19 screening from Monday’s red group testing.
During the last Spirit Activity, the freshmen Frisbee Golf Tournament, Senior Class President Will Seagle ’21 noticed how freshmen found it to be a good opportunity to get to know classmates as well as to have fun in a friendly competition. He believes the Cornhole Tournament will have a similar impact.
“I think the events on Wednesdays have been a tremendous success,” Will said. “Most notably, the freshmen Frisbee Golf Tournament as … many freshmen were able to hang out together and meet new people. I think the Cornhole [Tournament] will be the same. Cornhole requires a partner so it will encourage people to meet one another.”
Student Executive Council Publicity Coordinator Carlo Di Fiore ’21 agrees with Will that the previous spirit activities were a big hit.
“I think that we’ve had a lot of success with the events given the circumstances we’re in,” Carlo said. “We’ve gotten to give a lot of freshman opportunities to meet new people and be on campus, and definitely brought some more spirit to the community.”
With this new Spirit Activity, the Student Executive Council looks to build more spirit throughout the community as well as to crown a team the Jesuit Cornhole champions.
