On Wednesday, Jan. 22, the student council will be hosting their 35th Annual Blood Drive on campus at Jesuit High School Sacramento. This opportunity to donate blood will be available to students and faculty from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Jesuit’s tradition of giving blood is a great way to give back to the community and save lives.

“It’s a tradition here at Jesuit,” said Student Activities Director Mr. Peter Ferarri. “[It’s] a great way to help our community in a way that’s different.”

The donation process is short but extremely beneficial to those in need. George Srabian ’25 emphasizes the worldwide struggle to obtain blood and the significance of each donation.

“Donating blood is really simple and easy to do,” George said. “It only takes five to seven minutes to draw blood and in doing that you can help save multiple people’s lives. Blood is something that everyone in the world needs and that hospitals really need as there is always a blood shortage. It is a good opportunity to help someone in need even if you don’t see the results and don’t know the person; it’s cool to know that donating blood can help save a person’s life.”

Gordon Kim ’25, a donor from last year’s blood drive, encourages students to take advantage of the opportunity to help someone in need.

“Go donate blood because it’s just something you can do,” Gordon said. “It’s not too time consuming, but it could help someone far more than you could imagine. Plus, they give you snacks!”

The link to the sign up form can be found here. Those who donate will be given a free t-shirt and a lunch line pass that will be good until the end of January. Requirements for donating can be seen here – one donation is all it takes to make a difference!
