Is there anyone on campus who hasn’t worked with Jayden Canio ’25?

Jayden is the epitome of a Jesuit student: he is hardworking and selfless. He has proven his value to the school through passion and utmost dedication.

Student Activities Director Mr. Peter Ferrari has worked closely with Jayden over the past few years and has watched Jayden share his gifts with the school.

“In terms of leading our discussions as we plan events and talk through how to improve our events, he’s been a really valuable voice and helpful in bringing in different voices to that conversation,” Mr. Ferrari said. “ In a variety of conversations, I’ve seen him say the tough thing.”

Jayden’s selfless and uplifting character is the crucial component that makes him a great leader.

“He puts the group first,” Mr. Ferrari said. “I know that sounds kind of cliche, but he cares about the group’s success more than his own prestige. It’s not about Jayden being in front and looking great; it’s about the group succeeding. I think that his care and want to make this place a better place has been really visible.”

Ali Zaidi ’25 met Jayden in their freshman year choir class. He believes that Jayden is a great leader because of his resilience.

“Jayden’s greatest strength is his ability to persevere through challenges,” Ali said. “We’ve been in advanced classes together, and when the class material ramps up, he remains diligent and continues to put in 110% of his effort. In APIC, when planning large events like the Open Mic Night, he does a great job of organizing people and staying calm under pressure.”

Jayden has also shown his genuine care for others through his service. Theology Teacher Ms. Gabriella Carroll had the chance to work with Jayden during the Arrupe Leader Summit.

“I never had the opportunity to teach Jayden, but I did have the privilege of accompanying him to the Ignatian Solidarity Networks’s (ISN) Arrupe Leaders Summit a few years ago,” Ms. Carroll said. “Jayden brings a certain authenticity and earnestness to our school community that is very refreshing. He has a deep desire to ‘do good,’ and cares about the feelings of others.”

Jayden hopes that he is remembered at Jesuit for his desire to make the most of everything that life has granted him.

“I would like to be remembered as a student who took every opportunity given to him,” Jayden said. “Looking back to freshman year, I would have never thought I’d be student body president, co-founding a club, and being president of my heritage club for two years. I’ve always expanded my knowledge by taking challenging classes and improving my confidence by speaking to others, playing violin, and competing on the golf course.”
