On Friday, Oct. 4, the Jesuit High School Sacramento varsity football team dominated Davis High School 53-0.

One minute into the game, Davis was forced to punt, and Jesuit quickly capitalized on their first offensive opportunity when quarterback Teddy Rios ’26 connected with wide receiver Ryan Reeves ’26 on a 22-yard touchdown pass. Kicker Yudiel “Dragon” Mondragon ’26 added the extra point, making the score 7-0 Jesuit.

On the first play of Davis’s second possession, cornerback Alex Dewar ’26 intercepted a short pass, which resulted in a 34-yard field goal by Dragon.

On their next possession, Davis was forced to punt after a quick three and out, which set up a 54-yard rushing touchdown by running back Chris Effiong ’25. Dragon made the PAT, and the score was 17-0 in favor of Jesuit.

The rest of the first quarter went similarly. Cornerback Noah Briceño ’26 intercepted a Davis pass, which quickly led to a 40-yard touchdown pass from Teddy to Ryan. Dragon’s successful extra point then made the score 24-0 Jesuit. Then, Davis fumbled the ball early into their next possession, leading to a 20-yard touchdown pass from Teddy to tight end Thomas Miller ’25. Another successful extra point from Dragon made the score 31-0 in favor of Jesuit. Finally, with less then one minute left in the first quarter, linebacker Diego Foley ’26 intercepted a Davis pass, and ran it 35 yards into the endzone for a pick 6. Dragon kicked in the extra point making the score 38-0, closing out one of the most dominant quarters by Jesuit in recent memory.

At the start of the second quarter, Davis had possession, but they were forced to punt again. Once again, Jesuit took advantage, as running back Alan Cordano ran 33 yards into the endzone for a rushing touchdown with more than nine minutes left in the quarter. After a successful extra point, the score was 45-0 in favor of Jesuit.

At that point, the game began to slow down. Both teams started to go on long drives, running and controlling the ball. The final score of the game came in the form of a 3-yard rushing touchdown by running back Joshua Rucker ’26. Kicker Cannon Davey ’25 was set to kick in the extra point, but the snap was fumbled. Luckily, Cannon recovered the ball and managed to run it into the endzone for a 2-point conversion, making the score 53-0 in favor of Jesuit.

Davis’s last drive of the game took up the end of the third quarter and nearly all of the fourth quarter, and they got within 3 yards of the endzone. Jesuit defended both the run and pass game well, however, and Davis turned the ball over on downs. Then, Jesuit kneeled the ball to close out the game.

Teddy finished the game with 82 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns, while Chris led the Marauders with 63 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Ryan led Jesuit with 62 receiving yards, and his 2 receiving touchdowns set the tone for Jesuit early.

With this win, Jesuit is now 4-2 overall, and 1-2 in league play. Up next is an away game against Oak Ridge High School on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.
