On Friday, Oct. 18, Jesuit High School Sacramento’s varsity football team won an away game against the Del Oro High School Golden Eagles 34-14. This win avenged Jesuit’s triple overtime loss to Del Oro in last year’s section playoffs.

To start the game, Jesuit received the opening kickoff, and after a strong drive, they finished with a 10-yard touchdown run by quarterback Teddy Rios ’26. After an extra point by Yudiel “Dragon” Mondragon ’26, the score was 7-0.

To start the second quarter, Teddy connected with wide receiver Rocco Lucchetti ’26 for a 30-yard touchdown pass to put Jesuit up 14-0. Del Oro quickly responded, taking the kickoff to the house for a 93-yard touchdown, making the score 14-7.

Jesuit came right back, however, with a 25-yard rushing touchdown by running back Jack Patock ’25, and held a 21-7 lead. Jack’s touchdown was the last excitement of the half, which ended with a series of turnovers.

Del Oro received the second half kick, and then immediately punted the ball to Jesuit. Teddy was then picked off, giving Del Oro the ball in the red zone. But Jesuit’s defense held the line, forcing another turnover on downs. On the subsequent drive, Kicker Yudiel “Dragon” Mondragon ’26 then converted a 21-yard field goal putting Jesuit up 24-7.

To begin the fourth quarter, Del Oro drove up to the 50-yard line, before turning it over on downs. This led to a drive culminating in a 6-yard touchdown pass from Teddy to wide receiver Ryan Reeves ’26 which made the score 31-7.

Del Oro fumbled the ball to Jesuit again, which led to a 34-yard field goal by Dragon that gave the Marauders a commanding 34-7 lead.

For the second time, Del Oro returned the kickoff for a touchdown, cutting the lead to 20. Finally, Jesuit ran out the rest of the clock to close out a 34-14 win.

Jesuit is now 2-3 in league play, and 5-3 overall. Jesuit’s next game is this Friday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m., when Jesuit plays at home against Folsom High School.
