Jesuit welcomes shadows back to campus
The 2022-2023 school year at Jesuit High School Sacramento offers multiple shadow days for up-and-coming ninth graders. The first Shadow Day will take place on Monday, October 24. These shadow days offer future students a chance to visit and experience what Jesuit has to offer.
Director of Admissions, Mr. Matthew Ramos ’05 is excited to share the unique opportunity of experiencing a day at Jesuit.
“Shadow Day is a unique opportunity for prospective students in eighth grade, young men that are considering Jesuit, to come onto our campus and to shadow some of our current students,” Mr. Ramos said. “And to experience that day in the life of what it means to be a Marauder.”
Mr. Ramos also emphasizes that this event marks one of the biggest decisions for those prospective students.
“It’s an important time, an important decision,” Mr. Ramos said. “So having a glimpse at kind of expectations and what they’re going to experience in high school to find a place where they can call home, where they can feel comfortable and a part of a community, is super important.”
In addition to being one of Jesuit’s unique opportunities for prospective seventh and eighth graders, these shadow days also inform future students about what to expect at Jesuit. STAR Crew member, Christopher Rotelli ’24, describes how shadows learn about what to expect at Jesuit.
“Normally, the students or the shadows will follow you to class,” Christopher said. “They’ll watch you […] go about your day and do the work that you normally do.”
Assistant Director of Admissions, Jonathan Issac explains the best method of showing off the brotherhood here at Jesuit is through a shadow day.
“Our student body is our best representation,” Mr. Issac said. “We can do radio spots, we can do TV ads, we can do all that, but nothing quite captures what our students, our alumni, and our grad at grad are better than actually seeing them up close and personally.”
Shadow days at Jesuit are unique opportunities that’ll make a lasting impression on up-and-coming ninth graders by showing potential Marauders what it means to be a part of the growing brotherhood here at Jesuit.
