Kai Switlick ’25: driven to excel
As someone who strives for greatness in everything he does, Kai Switlick ’25 has been a model of excellence during his four, action-packed years at Jesuit High School Sacramento.
Kai is known by his teachers and peers for his tremendous work ethic and commitment to excellence.
“[Kai] is creative; he works really hard to push himself to try something difficult,” said Computer Science Teacher Mr. Peter Strawn ’04. “He’s not content with just doing something easy, but brings everything to the next level.”
When Kai is not working hard on his academics or clubs, he is playing the sport that he loves: lacrosse. Kai has been on the varsity team since he was a freshman and has been a captain for two years. He is also a member of the Colombian national lacrosse team, playing against the best in the world.
“The way Kai plays [lacrosse] is exactly how he acts,” said Colin Lee ’26. “Kai is always looking for the assist when he can, even though he knows he can score. He is always looking to help his teammates on and off the field. Kai as a teammate is a very good leader.”
While Kai’s skill and effort impacts the lacrosse team in a major way, his biggest contribution is being a leader for his team in a variety of aspects.
“Being a captain on the lacrosse team has required me to focus on helping my teammates learn from my example,” Kai said. “Leading by example has been my main philosophy for leading the team, and I think it has functioned well at demonstrating what players should be doing during games, practices, and even off the field.”
Kai has left a great impression on everyone who knows him, pushing beyond expectations in everything he does.
“Kai is a great student. I have enjoyed having him for all four years.” Mr. Strawn said. “He does excellent work. He always works hard, does creative things, and just kind of quietly does something, and it’s leaps and bounds above what I would expect.”
