On Thursday, Oct. 17, during lunch at the Senior Quad, Jesuit will be hosting a college fair with guests from the Regional Admission Counselors of California (RACC). RACC is an organization of college representatives for schools outside of California, and this fair will provide a great opportunity for students to learn about out of state schools.

Counselor Ms. Angela Harger believes that college fairs offer unique opportunities to connect with knowledgeable college representatives.

“This is a great opportunity for upperclassmen to meet with the admission reps and have one-to-one conversations,” Ms. Harger said. “Students can ask about admission requirements, scholarship opportunities, and how to best complete their applications.”

Counselor Ms. Gianna Wheeler also sees this fair as a chance for colleges to help students with the application process.

“[The application readers] can quickly provide information that is helpful to current Senior applicants such as acceptance rates, testing policies, and specific application related questions,” Ms. Wheeler said. “This information can help confirm if a senior’s list is balanced. Also, many students are searching for scholarship opportunities to help make college more affordable and talking to reps saves a lot of time.”

Gordon Kim ’25 thinks that the college fair gives everyone a great chance to meet college representatives and that everybody should go.

“There is no reason to not go, you get to see a lot of your friends and pretty much everyone goes,” Gordon said. “Sometimes they offer incentives to visit and you can talk to colleges you are interested in. There is really no downside in going.”

The RACC college fair offers great opportunities to connect with colleges – make sure to stop by on Oct. 17.
