Open House invites future Marauders into the brotherhood
As the month of October progresses, Jesuit High School Sacramento prepares to host its annual Open House event to give prospective Jesuit students a chance to see the brotherhood in action.
Jesuit’s expansive campus will be filled with tour guides, faculty and staff members, and current students hoping to show off the campus and the many opportunities that Jesuit offers.
Principal Dr. Michael Wood ’99 believes Open House informs future Marauders what they can look forward to in their time at Jesuit.
“Open House gives a glimpse into what it’s like to be here [and] the possibilities of things to get involved with, so Open House has an impact on really stoking that fire of what that next phase of their life will look like,” Dr. Wood said.
Mr. Matthew Ramos ’05, the director of admissions, wants prospective students to take advantage of what they can find at Open House.
“Providing an opportunity for people to come experience the campus and see if it’s a right fit for them, and just display the character and the wonderful things we do on our campus is something that Open House provides,” Mr. Ramos said.
Christopher Rotelli ’24, one of the students who will be helping with the Open House, is excited about the many activities featured in the event.
“I want to encourage everybody to check out the robotics room, as well as VPA,” Chris said. “Jazz band will be playing a set down in Dryer Plaza, and there may even be a drumline feature on the day. I also super encourage people to [take] the campus tours; they are led by some great students.”
The Open House works as a way to show families and students that Jesuit can provide not only amazing academics, but a joy-filled environment as well.
“It’s important that we celebrate in real, authentic, positive, [and] joyful ways the goodness that this community has to offer the next generation of Marauders,” Dr. Wood said. “So my hope is that people have fun, that we engage with each other, and allow the event to reflect the authentic joy that people have working here [and] attending here.”
Open House exemplifies the relationship that students build on campus. Mr. Ramos has confidence that this Sunday will show how Jesuit’s community is truly unique.
“That’s one thing that Jesuit does better than any other school, and whether you realize it or not, Jesuit is a community – we celebrate the highs and we come together in the lows,” Mr. Ramos said.
Open House will continue to showcase Jesuit’s welcoming environment and dedicated faculty and staff, inviting future marauders to begin their journey into becoming “Men for Others.”
