Yesterday, Feb. 26, Jesuit High School Sacramento’s Orchestra and Symphonic Band performed in their Honors Music Recital.

Cello player Nicolas Padilla ’25 believes that the performances throughout the night went off without a hitch.

“The recital went really well with many people being able to showcase their talent, whether individually or as a group,” Nicolas said. “The audience was also very polite and clapped at the right time which was awesome. I’m happy with how smoothly everything went. Everyone was able to go up, perform, have fun, and enjoy the process rather than stressing over the little things.”

Orchestra Director Mr. Paolo Reyes attests to the hard work the students put in.

“This performance requires a lot of work outside their normal curriculum and helps the students to be more self-driven and self-motivated to work on something creative themselves which can be very scary,” Mr. Reyes said. “It also helps them overcome a lot of their fears in performing.”

Flute player Thomas Fallon ’25 was thrilled to be able to perform a piece of his choosing, and listen to his bandmates.

“Being able to practice and perform music that we were able to choose what to play was really fun to do,” Thomas said. “Being able to listen to others play their chosen pieces of music was really fun because I got to hear new music I might not have otherwise heard. Overall everything was very exciting.”

The students who performed created an incredible atmosphere and wowed the audience with their chosen pieces of music. Make sure to support Jesuit’s arts by attending the Orchestra and Band’s next concert on Thursday, May 1, in the Phelan Chapel of North American Martyrs.
