On Sunday, Feb. 2, Jesuit High School Sacramento will be holding its annual Father/Son Mass at 10 a.m. in the Phelan Chapel of the North American Martyrs. At this mass, students and their fathers will have the chance to reflect on their relationship.

“It’s a great opportunity for dads and sons to come together at Jesuit,” said Associate Director for Campus Ministry Mr. Adam McGrew ’15. “[The mass] deepens that bond between father and son.”

This father-son bond isn’t the only relationship that’s fostered at the mass. Those in attendance also have the opportunity to come together and grow as Christians.

“Mass is a great way for us to understand the type of community that being Catholic calls one to: to be part of being Christ to one another,” Mr. McGrew said.

There are many chances to go to mass with your dad, yet the FatherSon Mass offers something unique.

“One of the most special things about those masses is the blessing at the end of Mass,” Mr. McGrew said. “It is really cool to see fathers and sons or mothers and sons [at the Mother Son Mass] bless each other at the mass.”

The Father/Son Mass is a moment to stop and reflect on the highs and lows of the relationship between the people that we love so much.

“I think that for one Sunday out of the year, you’re able to take a moment to stop and to reflect on the relationship you have with your dad, said Director of Campus Ministry Mr. Paul Leboeuf. “It could be really great at the moment or it could be not great, but [the mass] gives you time to stop and just recall your love [for each other]”

The Father/Son Mass offers an excellent opportunity to strengthen relationships between fathers and sons. Make sure to attend this mass and celebrate this important relationship.
