Junior Parent Spring Scheduling Information
Scheduling for current Juniors begins January 15
Greetings, Junior Parents!
Soon counselors will be meeting with your son(s) during collaboration to give them information needed to make their schedule requests for the 2025-2026 school year. We have changed the process this year to make it more efficient while still giving students all the resources they may need.
Many students are unfamiliar with choosing their courses, so I’m reaching out to help. Here are some ways you can support a smooth scheduling process:
- Students will meet one-on-one with their counselor to review their course selections. They will also discuss course balance, appropriate rigor for each student’s college plan, note any academic issues or courses they may have to appeal for, and finalize requests. Any changes to your student’s initial requests must happen at the time of the student/counselor meeting.Students will have one scheduled meeting and will be emailed a calendar appointment with the date and time. Please remind them to accept their email calendar invite from the counselor to confirm their individual scheduling meeting attendance. (Great time to reinforce good email checking habits, too!) If a student does not attend his meeting, counselors will review his preliminary courses selected and submit an appropriate course schedule on his behalf.
- Since we build the Master Schedule based on their choices this Spring, please remind your son that he should be intentional about course rigor and balance. Please reference our Course Catalog for course descriptions and prerequisites. Before their collaboration meeting, please discuss with your student the courses they are interested in taking. To make things easier, please review the Jesuit High School Graduation Plan which outlines courses we offer.

- As you can see, we have many advanced course offerings across multiple departments. All requests for placement into advanced level classes for which your student is eligible for consideration will be reviewed by the academic departments—the selection of a class does not guarantee placement into the class.
- If your son requests any advanced level classes, he should make sure to check the Preliminary Course Request email that will come in February following that initial department review. If he is not able to initially request an advanced level class and/or if he does not see an advanced level class that he requested reflected in that February email, he will need to complete an appeal; instructions for the appeal process will come with that February email. Please note that placements are subject to change, as many departments will also review placements at the end of the 3rd quarter, and again at the conclusion of the 2nd semester to ensure students’ performance is still on par with the expectations for any advanced classes.
Please be aware of the following dates:
- January 15 – Junior Collaboration A
- January 22 – Junior Collaboration B
- January 15 – February 7 – Student one on one meetings with counselors
- February 7 – Junior course request period closes
- February 10-14 – Initial department review of course requests
- February 17-21 – Preliminary Course Request emails sent to students
Parents, you will receive an email with a DocuSign form that must be digitally signed to confirm requests and continue with the scheduling process. Given that we are on a tight timeline for the scheduling process for all currently enrolled students, we will assume that documents not signed by parents/guardians by Wednesday, February 12 are acceptable and will move forward.
If you have any questions about the scheduling process, please contact your students counselor.
