Operation Cratchit Food Drive Update
Special thanks to Elite Power
A message from Mr. Peter Ferrari and the Student Council
Our Operation Cratchit Food Drive is in the books, and Student Council and I are very grateful for the work of everyone who contributed to this year’s Food Drive. In total, we donated over 59,000 combined pounds and dollars to our partners at the Stanford Settlement. Their good work continues, as they distribute the food and grocery gift cards to the families that they serve, and we are very grateful to support this good work.
Our total pounds and dollars is right around last year’s total. In the previous two years, our student participation percentage was 50%, and this year, it increased to 57%. The juniors had the highest participation at 70%, and the sophomores brought in the most pounds and dollars at 17,496, which averages to 76 pounds/ dollars per person.
We are grateful to everyone who donated and contributed to make this year’s Operation Cratchit Food Drive a success. We are especially grateful to our partners at the Stanford Settlement, as they do incredible work to serve our neighbors in Natomas, Gardenland-Northgate, and North Sacramento. On the day of the Unload, they work with extreme patience with our 99 young men eager to help unload the truck. In early November, they hosted 18 members of Student Council as we visited Stanford Settlement to learn more about their work and the neighborhoods they serve, and this helped to educate and inspire our students.
We are also very grateful to Elite Power for donating the use of their trailer and arranging its transportation. They also donated over 2,700 pounds of food. Without the donation of their trailer, our Food Drive would be much more difficult. We are so grateful to be partners with Elite Power.
Lastly, we are grateful to everyone who helped make the Food Drive a success, including the Lucchetti family for their generous donation of Kings tickets for our raffle. Thank you to the Jesuit faculty and staff who helped collect food, kick off the Food Drive at our assembly, unload food at Stanford Settlement, and prepare facilities for these various activities. Thank you to the National Honor Society, Latinos Unidos, and Holy Rollers who held fundraisers for Operation Cratchit. Lastly, thank you to everyone who helped support the Food Drive in a way not named above!
