CJ Lee ’24 contributes to the campus
Christopher “CJ” Lee ’24 is the starting quarterback of the varsity football team, but he’s much more than that. CJ is a great friend, has a great sense of humor, and he always looks on the bright side of things.
Head Varsity Football Coach Marlon Blanton has known CJ for about 10 years, and recognizes how his contributions to the team extend beyond his athletic gifts.
“His skill set as a quarterback and [his] athleticism makes our football team better – makes our lacrosse team better,” Coach Blanton said. “What he brings to the table in terms of who he is as a person, I think really speaks volumes to him and his family.”
In addition to his on-field production, CJ served as a strong leader for the football team without needing to be vocal.
“As a quarterback you’re supposed to be that vocal leader, but me, personally, I’m more of that lead by example type of guy, so I wasn’t really talking that much during the season,” CJ said. “I had people like Vassar and Hall. They would be the talking people. I would just lead by example.”
Drew Vassar ’24, CJ’s teammate and friend for nearly a decade, admires CJ’s optimistic mindset and the way he gets his work done.
“When it comes to things on the field, but also in the classroom, he’s always that guy there just to get stuff done and always has a fun time doing it,” Drew says. “Whether things are serious, things are tough, he always finds a way to have a great time with it and always puts a smile on his face and always makes it fun for everyone.”
Coach Blanton is certain that CJ will find success in whatever journey he chooses to pursue.
“Whatever he decides to do, he’ll be successful, whether it’s sports or anything outside the sport world,” Coach Blanton said. “I believe he’ll be a successful human being and a contributing member to society.
