Ms. Katrina Fox brings comfort and support to Jesuit
This summer, Jesuit High School Sacramento added to their wellness counseling team with the hiring of Wellness Counselor Ms. Katrina Fox.
In her previous position at Saint Francis High School, Ms. Fox worked as a school counselor and was the moderator for California Scholarship Federation (CSF) and senior student council. Her current role at Jesuit focuses on providing mental health support to students in need of such support.
“I am an Associate MFT [Marriage and Family Therapist] who provides mental health services to students on our campus,” Ms. Fox says. “I use therapeutic practices to meet with students who are seeking wellness and support here on campus.”
Ms. Fox has had extensive experience in Catholic education and as a counselor in Catholic high schools.
“Catholic education is very near and dear to my heart,” Ms. Fox said. “Both my brothers are Jesuit alums and I’m a Saint Francis alum. Since I’ve finished grad school I’ve exclusively worked in the counseling department at Catholic high schools, so Catholic education has been a really big part of my life since a very young age.”
Director of Counseling Services Ms. Amanda Smith believes that Ms. Fox is a great fit for the Jesuit wellness program.
“[Ms. Fox] has been a counselor for many years and she’s an absolute delight and fresh addition to our wellness team that works also so closely with all of our counselors,” Ms. Smith said. “What Ms. Fox brings to our team is that she is a seasoned school counselor and is adding into the layers of wellness.”
Ms. Fox’s experience has Ms. Smith excited about the new wellness team and optimistic for their future here on campus.
“With the addition of Ms. Fox this year we have a wonderful team in place and we’re all ready to serve our students and help you all be your best selves,” Ms. Smith said.
Ms. Fox is more than ready to help the students of Jesuit who need it and wants to spread a message of mental health awareness.
“My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where students feel comfortable discussing their emotional and mental health, while equipping them with coping strategies to manage stress and personal challenges,” Ms. Fox said.
If you ever need to talk to someone, or just want to say hi, Ms. Fox is ready to accompany you on your mental health journey. With all of her previous years of education and experience, she’s more than ready for the job.
