Staying Connected – May 14
Moving Forward, a Look at a Few Upcoming Events
Dear Parents, Students, Faculty, and Staff
All around us are positive signs of Jesuit High School moving forward….Graduation ceremonies are in the final planning stages, underclassmen are taking their exams and ready to advance to their next class year, our newest Marauders are in the spirit, and our 2021-2022 school calendar is being populated with sports, collaborations, concerts, Masses and events.
As we look to the new school year, I want to share with you some of the events that we are planning:
Welcome Dinners by Class, weeks of August 16 and August 23
Hosted by the Advancement Department, this will be a casual evening to come together, break bread with your fellow class families, and renew your Jesuit spirit.
Scholarship Luncheon, October 14, 2021
The 4th Annual Scholarship Luncheon supports the Tuition Assistance Endowment and brings together many of our alumni for a power lunch and moving testimonials about the impact of tuition assistance, both from those that have benefited from it and from those who generously support it. We are pleased to have as the 2021 Keynote Speaker Steve Peters, M.D., Cardiologist, Alumni Parent, Former Trustee and Board Chair, and Member of the JHS Endowment Fundraising Committee.
President’s Dinner, November 4, 2021
During this year’s dinner, which brings together our generous benefactors for a special evening celebration, we will also honor three special award recipients:
- Insignis Award Recipients: Fred and Lynda Khasigian, Alumni parents and Founders of the JHS Rugby program
- 2021 Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee: Paul Rose, longtime faculty member and Varsity Soccer Coach
- Distinguished Alumnus: Robert Paylor ’15
Watch for more in-depth profiles on these honorees coming ahead of the event and in future Jesuit Magazine editions.
3rd Annual President’s Lecture, February 17, 2022
I share with great joy that Fr. Greg Boyle, S.J., will be our speaker for this third annual event. Fr. Boyle is the founder and director of Homeboy Industries, the world’s largest gang-intervention, rehabilitation and re-entry program, a New York Times best-selling author, recipient of numerous state and national awards for service and peace, and the former pastor of the Dolores Mission Church in Los Angeles.
There will, of course, be many more opportunities for all of us to be on campus. . . and I look forward to our school community of current students, faculty, staff, alumni, and benefactors coming together once again for events and worship on our beautiful campus.
God bless you and your families. I am grateful for your support of Jesuit High School.
Rev. John P. McGarry, S.J.
President
