Retreats are a chance for students to recenter and refocus while arriving at a place of both deeper self-affirmation and acceptance of God’s unconditional love.
Purpose
A retreat is precisely what the word implies: time to take a step back and reflect on who one is and who one is becoming. High school is a busy time in a young man’s life. Academics, athletics, co-curricular activities, part-time jobs, and family commitments all vie for space in our students’ schedules. Being actively involved and staying busy is good practice, but it is also beneficial to take time to pause and reflect on personal values, current and future goals, relationships, and faith so that positive personal and spiritual growth can be achieved. By bringing the important big-picture parts of life into focus every now and then, our students are challenged to make steady progress on responding to God’s call to live their life as the best version of themselves.
Power of small-groups
While on retreat, students are invited to better understand the unique person that God created them to be, their relationships with others, and their relationship with God. Retreats at Jesuit are peer-led with facilitation and direction from faculty members. All our retreats are small-group based, with ample time for students to converse with their classmates during guided discussions. This atmosphere of intentional community allows students to find commonality in their experience of high school life, build lifelong support networks of friends that genuinely care about their wellbeing, share about their own unique faith experiences, and positively challenge one another to be the very best version of themselves.
