Jesuit Rovotics Team works hard, takes international win
While many students were enjoying the start of summer vacation,
the Jesuit High School, Sacramento Rovotics team (Jesuit’s
Robotics team company) defeated an international group of high
schools and universities at the Marine Advanced Technology
Education (MATE) International Underwater Robotics Competition in
Long Beach, California. The team’s thorough preparations last
year helped them secure their victory and continue the hard work
for this year’s competition.
Jesuit defeats rival Christian Brothers at 51st Holy Bowl
On Saturday, Sept. 10, during the 51st annual Holy Bowl, Jesuit High School Sacramento’s varsity football team defeated cross-town rival Christian Brothers High School 21-7.
Jesuit quickly asserted themselves late in the first quarter with a touchdown to start off the scoring. By the fourth quarter, the Marauders were firmly in the lead.
Jesuit prepares for an exciting Holy Bowl
The 53rd annual Holy Bowl is this Saturday, Sept. 10, at Sacramento City College’s Hughes Stadium. After last year’s lopsided 44-0 victory against Christian Brothers High School, Jesuit High School Sacramento is ready for another great game.
Jesuit’s water polo team is confident heading into the season
The Jesuit High School Sacramento varsity water polo team starts its season on Sept. 3, 2022, with a round robin tournament in San Jose, California. With most of their top players returning, the team is confident they can make a deeper playoff run and get over the hump to win this year’s Section title.

Bishop Manogue High School.
Jesuit hosts first in person Back to School Night in three years
Jesuit High School Sacramento’s Back to School Night is on
Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 6:30 p.m. This marks the first in person Back
to School Night in three years. The event looks to reunite
parents and teachers and to showcase a student’s life at

Review: ‘The Witcher’ season 2 makes massive improvements
On Dec. 17, 2021 the second season of Netflix’s “The Witcher” was released, and it is remarkably different from the first season. The second season is based off of the short story “A Grain of Truth,” the second novel in the “Witcher” series “Blood of Elves,” and the beginning of the third novel “Time of Contempt.”
Review: ‘Severance’ is an intense, mind-bending sci-fi thriller
On Feb. 18, 2022, the intense sci-fi thriller “Severance” aired its first episode on Apple TV+. The show’s season finale was released on April 8, and was created, written, and produced by Dan Erikson and directed by Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle.

On Friday, Aug. 19, the Jesuit High School Sacramento community celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit. This mass is not just an annual tradition for our school, but Jesuit high schools and universities all over the world start the new year in the same way.
Jesuit’s Varsity Football Team sees brotherhood as the path to greatness
In the 2021-2022 season, the Jesuit High School, Sacramento Varsity Football Team had six wins and zero losses in the Delta League, including a 44-0 victory versus Christian Brothers High School in the Holy Bowl. Including non-league games, the team ended the season with a 10-2 record. They lost only to Folsom High School, last year’s Northern California football champions. This year’s varsity team’s first game will be against Bishop Manogue High School on Friday, Aug. 26, in Reno, Nevada.

Review: ‘Uncharted’ Underwhelms Expectations
On Feb. 18, 2022, “Uncharted” was released in theaters. The film
stars Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, Mark Wahlberg as Victor
“Sully” Sullivan, and Sophia Taylor Ali as Chloe Frazer. It
opened to overwhelmingly negative critical reviews, and
underwhelming box office results, making only 51 million dollars
in its opening weekend and one of very few movies to make less
than a 1 thousand dollar-per-theater average.
Review: ‘The Stanley Parable’ re-released with hours of new content
Developed by Crows Crows Crows, the critically acclaimed video
game, “The Stanley Parable,” originally launched in 2013. Lauded
for its wit, humor, and commentary about the nature of choice in
video games, “The Stanley Parable” has now been re-released in
2022 with hours of new content under the moniker “The Stanley
Parable: Ultra Deluxe.”
Lifelong robotics enthusiast Taylor Vicente ’22 looks towards the future
Taylor Vicente ’22 will be remembered for his academic and
co-curricular excellence. On top of being a high achiever in his
academics, Taylor was an integral part of the nationally
recognized robotics program at Jesuit High School Sacramento.
William Ruggles ’22, leaving a legacy of leadership
After playing in the Jesuit High School Sacramento Marauder Band
for four years, William Ruggles ’22 is making the most of his
last year of high school as he assumes leadership positions for
the band and even embarks on his own philanthropic ventures.
Christian Covert ’22; revitalizing school spirit
For the last four years, Christian Covert ’22 has immersed
himself in all aspects of campus life at Jesuit High School
Sacramento. He is known as a dedicated varsity rugby player and
exuberant classmate, but his most notable involvement is being
the Student Executive Council Vice President.
Opinion: Struggles of Growing Up Black
Growing up as a young Black man trying to navigate this world is
hard. From a young age, I was taught survival skills that I will
have to live with for the rest of my life.
Jesuit Spring Orchestra Concert: exciting and rewarding
On Thursday, March 31, Jesuit High School Sacramento held their
exciting annual Spring Orchestra Concert. Hosted by Orchestra
Teacher Mr. Paolo Reyes, this production highlighted student
performances from the Beginner Strings, String Orchestra, and
Symphony Orchestra groups.
2022 valedictorian and salutatorian contribute to Jesuit community
On April 13, Jesuit High School Sacramento announced that Matthew
Mellas class of 2022’s valedictorian and that J.P. Leatherby ’22
will serve as the salutatorian. These leaders of the senior class
received these honors not just for their stellar academics, but
also for their involvement in the Jesuit community.
