Since being constructed in the ’60s, Jesuit High School Sacramento’s Father Barry Gymnasium has hosted countless school masses, fundraisers, athletic competitions, and a number of different gatherings throughout the years.

Senior Memory: Brothers on retreat
My favorite Jesuit memory came on Freshman Overnight.
We were tired. It had been a long Saturday, the first day of Frosh Overnight. We had arrived in the morning, before our Little Brothers did. We did our prep work and our activities and our prayers, and the day was finally coming to a close.

There is no way we can lose, or so I thought as I awaited the whistle that would signal the start of our second rugby game that day. Our first had been in the morning when we won the semifinal game against our longtime rival Gonzaga High School.

With advice from state and local health officials, President Rev. John P. McGarry, S.J. and Principal Mr. Michael Wood ’99 announced Jesuit High School Sacramento would extend online learning through the end of the 2019-2020 academic year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Students elect new Executive Council

La Raza in Los Angeles
Serving others
Last February, the Jesuit High School Sacramento La Raza Club took their annual trip to Los Angeles and embraced their Hispanic and Latino heritage by serving impoverished groups who share the same ethnic background.
Drivers, drive-ins, and rides
Every morning and afternoon, hundreds of students and dozens of teachers and faculty flood in and out of Jesuit High School’s parking lots. For most, the lots are just a symbol of commuting drudgery, a dull back-and-forth between school and home. For others, the lots, as well as the commutes, hold their most prized possessions — their cars.
Seek Discomfort Club
While many of the clubs at Jesuit High School are based on common interests like video games and music, the Seek Discomfort club defies the normal definition of “club.”
Gym overhaul continues
Jesuit High School Sacramento students entered the Fr. Barry Gymnasium last fall to find one major change: air conditioning. This was one renovation in a $2.8 million project that will continue and conclude this summer.
