The photos I took in that class are still some of my favorites that I have taken at Jesuit.
What initially sparked your enthusiasm for your chosen discipline? What else are you involved in at JHS?
I originally became interested in photography simply from seeing prints in museums from famous photographers. I thought the images were amazingly detailed and unique, and wanted to try my own hand at photography.

I learned that I will put great effort into the work I care about.
What initially sparked your enthusiasm for your chosen discipline? What else are you involved in at JHS?
During my admissions process, I was faced with the decision of choosing a VPA class, and that’s when I stumbled upon photography. Initially, I was unsure about it, but I decided to give it a try. It was something different from the other VPAs I had taken in middle school, and I fell in love with photography.

Mateo is not only a talented singer, but also a fantastic human being. He brings commitment, dedication, and positivity to every venture that he is a part of. In our choral program, his leadership brings our choir together both musically and socially. It is a true joy to have the opportunity to work with Mateo. –Mr. Vanderbout

Ever since I was a young kid I have always been drawn to art.
What initially sparked your enthusiasm for your chosen discipline? What else are you involved in at JHS?
I initially chose art because I have always loved it. Ever since I was a young kid I have always been drawn to art. At Jesuit, I am also involved in the Art Club, the Environmental Justice and Sustainability Club, and I am a part of the cross country and track and field teams at Jesuit.
